A MAN has been arrested after a teenage girl was indecently assaulted in Port Glasgow.

Around 8.30pm yesterday, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy went to use the facilities in Fore Street.

When the young girl was within the female toilet she was approached by a man who indecently assaulted her.

The girl left and alerted her friend, who took pictures of the man.

The man, who was in the company of another man, stopped to speak to the occupants of a blue BMW nearby before making off from the scene.

The girl made her way home where she told her parents, who contacted the police.

A man in his 30s has since been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff from Greenock CID said: “We understand that a member of the public may have filmed the incident and I would urge anyone with footage, or any information about what happened, to please get in touch.

“I would also appeal to the occupants of the blue BMW, who spoke to the man, to come forward.
