FREE family fun will bring a breath of Fresh Air Festival to Dunfermline's Public Park on Saturday.

The annual event is on from noon to 4pm with the hugely-popular grass sledges, pony rides, chainsaw-sculpting and fire-juggling through to vintage cars, magic show, live music and haggis-hunting!

Fordell Firs activity centre will be sharing the day with festival-goers, with activities such as bridge-building, and there will also be a skateboarding competition, Segways, birds of prey, tai chi, yoga, inflatables, face-painting and the chance to have a go at sports including tennis, rugby and American football.

Organiser Jim Stewart, of Central Dunfermline Community Council, said most events were free or low-cost so that the festival was "an extremely affordable family day out full of unique entertainment and fun".

He added: “For less than a tenner, you can have your face painted or get a tattoo, enjoy something to eat, a pony ride and have a go at grass-sledging.

"There are enough free things to last the whole afternoon, and we hope to see you there, along with the sunshine.”

Fife Historic Vehicles will show off their amazing collection of vintage cars and motor bikes, with buses and fire engines to explore, while Skateboard Scotland will run a competition in the skatepark for skaters, scooters and boarders – just turn up and join in.

There will be a bouncy safari adventure playground, assault course and laser clay pigeon shooting and, new this year, you can have a go on a Segway and at target golf.

Or you can simply relax on a picnic rug with an ice cream or barbecue and take in the live sounds from the bandstand, which will include traditional bands as well as the best of the town’s indie music scene.

Provost of Fife Jim Leishman will be opening the festival and sharing some of the day's activities with his pal, Dunfermline Athletic mascot Sammy the Tammy.

Nando’s will also be supporting the event and offering some tasters and giveaways provided by Barci Chicken.
