STAGECOACH East Scotland will hold a public consultation about changes to the bus services they aim to introduce this summer.

Passengers in West Fife will be affected with timetables, routes and frequency all set to be amended, while some routes will go, in order to "provide the best possible service for our customers".

And they can have their say with consultation events next week at Ferrytoll and Halbeath park and rides and at Dunfermline Bus Station.

Managing director Douglas Robertson said: "The proposals include more frequent services to Edinburgh from Ferrytoll and Halbeath park and rides, including non-stop journeys and a new service for eastern Dunfermline, as well as ensuring faster and more frequent journeys between both Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh."

He added: "Enhanced services between Fife and Dundee are also included.”

Proposals include increased frequency of peak and off-peak buses to Edinburgh from Ferrytoll – every four and five minutes respectively – and more non-stop services to the capital.

All services will stop at Orchard Brae.

From Halbeath, daytime frequency to Edinburgh will increase to every 10 minutes, evening buses will be every half hour instead of every hour and the Sunday service will improve with a bus to the capital every 20 minutes.

Routes are being revised in Dalgety Bay to offer a better coverage of the town and all journeys will operate via Inverkeithing High School.

Due to increasing demand, the popular 747 bus connecting West Fife with Edinburgh Airport will run every 15 minutes during the day and there will be changes to the Express services to Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The X5 between Dunfermline, Ferrytoll and Edinburgh will be replaced by a new X52 service to Bristo Square in Edinburgh via Halbeath Road, Duloch Park, Rosyth and Ferrytoll.

There are also proposed changes to service 4 between Dunfermline, Oakley and Blairhall; the 6/6A between Crombie, Dunfermline and Oakley; and the 8/8A between Dunfermline, Alloa and Falkirk.

The consultation at Ferrytoll is on Tuesday from 7am to 11am, and on the same day at Dunfermline Bus Station from noon to 4pm, and at Halbeath on Thursday, May 30, from 7am to 11am.

Full details of the proposals and the chance to comment are available via the website https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/east-scotland/service-change-proposals.

Staff will also be present at each bus station / park and ride to speak to passengers.

All comments must be provided by Friday June 7.
