A SERIAL offender has been banned from entering Dunfermline's Kingsgate Shopping Centre after being caught stealing aftershave.
Joan Meiklejohn, 46, of Lumphinnans Road, Lochgelly, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
She admitted that on May 22, at Boots Chemist in the Kingsgate, she stole a quantity of fragrances.
Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said the value of the stolen goods was £124.50.
“She was seen entering the store and was followed by a security officer. She walked into the perfume section and was seen removing the security tags from three bottles of perfume and put them in her jacket before walking past the tills.”
Defence solicitor Lee Qmsieh said: “She doesn’t have any explanation and was not under the influence of alcohol.
“It was a moment of madness and was utter stupidity on her part.”
The court was told regular offender Meiklejohn was already on a drug treatment and testing order and there were another six cases running alongside it.
Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports and Meiklejohn will be sentenced on June 14.
Bail was granted and Meiklejohn was banned from the Kingsgate Centre until sentencing.
