A PERSON has died after reportedly being hit by a train at Dunfermline Town station this morning (Wednesday).
Transport police were called to the station at around 6.30am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics attended but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “At 6.30am today, officers were called to Dunfermline Town station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"A report will be made to the Procurator Fiscal."
ScotRail announced on Twitter that they were working with emergency services following the incident which resulted in large disruption on the line.
They posted: "Sadly, due to a person being struck by a train between Glenrothes & Inverkeithing, our services have been disrupted. We're working closely with the emergency services."

Replacement bus services were put on in the wake of the incident.
