A PROFESSIONAL burlesque show is heading to Dunfermline this summer as part of a host of events happening for Fife Pride.

Twilight Tease Burlesque Revue will come to Carnegie Hall on July 5 after a string of sell-out shows in Kirkcaldy.

Star of the show Brandy Montmartre, 32, told the Press: "Burlesque is a celebration of everybody the way they are, and is a very pure form of self-expression.

"It's packed with glamour and oozes confidence, with an overriding strong body positive message.

"The show has been really popular and has sold out every time."

Brandy has been performing burlesque since 2014 after being picked by producers of the Burlesque Ball – seen as the top show in the industry.

She added: "I've always been a fan of the pin-up style fashion and also Dita Von Teese, who is credited with re-popularising burlesque performance.

"I thought she was fantastic but never thought it was for me.

"In 2014, I was at a show that ended up kind of being audition.

"I was dancing really hard on the dance floor at the Burlesque Ball, the producers were watching and gave me a part on that.

"I was shortlisted for the London Burlesque Festival this year but unfortunately I cannot do it.

"In April 2017 I decided to do my own show – I like getting involved in the production, not just the performance. Me and my husband are behind the production.

"Bringing entertainment to people is one of the best things in the world.

"People come with expectations but it's all about body confidence and working it even if you've got cellulite or don't look like an image in a magazine.

"There will be both burlesque and cabaret and it's the only one in Fife.

"It's old school but made relevant for a modern audience – there's also a lot of comedy in it.

"It's a lot of fun and we don't take ourselves too seriously!"

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, are £12 and £10 concessions, and are available from the Carnegie Hall box office.
