A DUNFERMLINE man decided to do his Christmas shopping without paying for the presents.
Richard Brown hid two bottles of aftershave, worth £119.50, under his hat and tried to leave the store.
When he was nabbed on his way out of Debenhams, Brown claimed the aftershave was to have been a Christmas gift for his brother.
Brown, 43, of Leny Place, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on December 15, at Debenhams, Kingsgate Centre, he stole a quantity of fragrances.
Depute fiscal Katherine Fraser said:, “He was seen picking up two bottles of aftershave and concealing them under his hat.
“He was apprehended and the goods were recovered.”
When arrested, Brown told police: “I’m sorry.”
Defence solicitor Toni Pentecost said: “This took place just before Christmas and he took them as a gift for his brother.”
The court was told Brown was already on a community payback order.
Sheriff Charles MacNair called for reports and Brown will be sentenced on July 10.
