A DUNFERMLINE woman’s careless driving nearly caused a high-speed collision on the A92.

Dorothy Kalimalwendo undertook an unmarked police car on a slip road then shot onto the dual carriageway without checking for other vehicles.

A driver travelling at 60mph had to move onto the verge to avoid a crash.

Care home worker Kalimalwendo, 53, of Elgin Street, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on August 15, on the A92 at Halbeath, she drove a car carelessly by overtaking in the inside lane on the slip road, failed to observe traffic in the offside lane, and moved from the inside lane to the offside into the path of oncoming traffic, causing them to take evasive action by driving onto the offside verge to avoid a collision.

Depute fiscal Katherine Fraser said two police officers were in an unmarked vehicle at 2.10pm when they observed Kalimalwendo’s erratic driving.

She undertook the police officers, who were in the outside lane of the slip road, then she merged onto the A92 without checking for other vehicles.

She cut in front of a driver who was travelling at 60mph and had to go onto the verge because of her actions.

Sheriff Charles MacNair imposed a £200 fine and her licence was endorsed with four penalty points.
