THE Kincardine Bridge is to close overnight this evening (Wednesday) as maintenance work continues to progress.

The final phase of a £2.3 million roadworks programme began earlier this week and is due to continue until July 10.

However, an early traffic management switch-over will take place tonight, which requires a full night-time closure of the bridge between 8pm and 6am tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

Road users are instructed to use diversion routes via Kincardine and the Clackmannanshire Bridge before a single lane closure will resume on the Kincardine Bridge tomorrow morning.

The work is part of an ongoing refurbishment programme of the bridge and includes the replacement of road surfracing, bridge deck waterproofing and new expansion joints.

To date, 15 joint-to-joint spans of the structure have been refurbished, costing more than £2.3 million since 2015.
