A SEX offender ignored a ban on him being drunk in public and turned up at a meeting with social workers after consuming alcohol.

Gary Paterson, 44, of Adamson Crescent, Dunfermline, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that last Friday, at New City House, Edgar Street, he was intoxicated with alcohol, when subject to a sexual offences prevention order imposed on July 24, 2015, and being prohibited from consuming alcohol in public and from being intoxicated through alcohol in public.

Defence solicitor Iain McCafferty said: “He had a drink that morning. He didn’t think he was as intoxicated as he was.”

It is the second time in recent months Paterson has breached the order.

Police saw him drunk near a playpark in Dunfermline where teenagers had gathered, which resulted in a four-month restriction of liberty order.

Sheriff Pino di Emidio deferred sentence on the latest offence until July 3 and granted bail.
