A DUNFERMLINE pub is set for a new look after a £300,000 transformation.

The former Thistle Tavern will open next month as The Rumbling Well after the major revamp which will see the creation of 15 new jobs.

New licensee Derek Chalmers, who has previously worked as an assistant manager in Edinburgh, is relishing his new challenge at the Baldridgeburn pub.

"I am looking forward to taking on The Rumbling Well, meeting local residents and becoming an active member of the community with the pub as its hub," he said. "A total of £300,000 is being invested in transforming the pub into a a modern, family-friendly local, offering great food and live entertainment such as DJs, quiz nights and live music.

"It will have a stylish new look inside and out, better outdoor spaces, a new sound system and screens for sports viewings and a new kitchen. Excellent food and coffee will be served all day. The emphasis is on exceeding customer expectations throughout, and the pub will be renamed The Rumbling Well to mark its new direction."

As well as a new entrance porch and a new raised paved terrace at the front of the pub, there will also be a decked beer garden at the back which will have additional seating for 20 for alfresco eating and drinking.

The inside is being reconfigured to make a spacious room with central bar including a larger drinking area with more seating and there will be a new snug for those wanting a cosier, more intimate environment. A light and airy lounge and dining area is also being created by installing full-height and bi-fold windows leading out onto the rear terrace.
