A DUNFERMLINE man grabbed his partner by the throat when a domestic dispute turned nasty.

David Montgomery, 60, of Blackburn Avenue, was found guilty after a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He had denied that on September 16, at their home he assaulted his partner by seizing her by the throat and pushing her on the body.

His partner said there had been a row about property in the lead-up to the assault in their bedroom.

She said she had been pushed onto the bed and that he then put his hands around her throat but did not squeeze.

Montgomery said there had been an argument over finances and she told him to pack his bags and move out.

He admitted pushing his partner onto the bed but denied grabbing her by the throat.

However, Sheriff Charles MacNair found him guilty and sentence was deferred for reports until August 7.

The court heard the couple are still living together.
