AN OLYMPIC silver medalist visited Dalgety Bay Primary School to tell the pupils about the benefits of eating healthily and exercising.

Judo star Gemma Gibbons Burton, who finished second in the London Games in 2012, stopped by before the school holidays as part of a partnership between Aldi and Team GB.

Their joint initiative, Get Set To Eat Fresh, hopes to inspire 1.2 million school children aged 5-14 to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food with their families.

Gemma donated fresh fruit and healthy snacks to the school on behalf of the new Aldi store, which opened at Ridge Way in Dalgety Bay last month.

Store manager Nicki Sneddon said: “It’s fantastic that we have opened our third store in the area, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed meeting our new customers and having Gemma here with us has made the day extra special."

Gemma added: “I’ve had a lovely time celebrating the opening of Aldi’s new store with the children of Dalgety Bay Primary School.

"It was great to get to talk to the children of the community and hopefully I have managed to inspire them to eat well and be active.”
