THE Valleyfield community came together yesterday (Thursday) to put on their annual children's gala two days earlier than planned.

The event was due to take place tomorrow (Saturday) however, after Wednesday's downpours and more rain forecast, organisers took a snap decision to hold it early to ensure children weren't left disappointed.

Committee treasurer Jade McLean was delighted with the way the rearranged event went.

"It was crazy," she said. "We turned everything around in 24 hours. We decided at 7pm on Wednesday night to bring it forward and we all went from there.

"By 9am on Thursday we had everyone on site, permission from the council to change the day and it was all systems go from there. We were supposed to have a parade so we didn't have that or the pipe band but that was all we couldn't have.

"We were so so surprised that so many people came. We literally went out in the morning and put posters up and put a post out on Facebook.

"We were really lucky that everyone managed to come along ."
