A BANNED driver caught behind the wheel twice inside a week claimed he was too scared to walk or use public transport after threats were made to him.

Sam Tulett, 27, formerly of Kelty, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on May 19 last year in Primrose Lane, Rosyth, he drove while disqualified.

He also admitted that on May 24 last year, in Black Road, Kelty, he drove while disqualified.

The court heard Tulett is already on a community payback order.

The threats against him were made because of another court case he was involved in, said defence solicitor Roshni Joshi.

Reading the social work report, Sheriff Craig McSherry commented: “He says he wouldn’t leave his property in any circumstances without going by car.”

Ms Joshi said Tulett became “the focus of direct threats and was fearful of being in public places and on public transport”.

She added: “He realises he is in a very precarious position today because of these offences.”

Sheriff McSherry imposed an eight-month restriction of liberty order and another driving ban for 20 months on one of the offences.

Sentence was deferred on the other offence for three months.

As a result of Tulett’s claims about being in fear of his life, the sheriff ruled that his new address should not be published.
