A LATE-NIGHT street argument in Dunfermline ended in a man being headbutted.

Kenneth Solway carried out the assault at around 2am when he was drunk, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

Solway, 21, of Dundonald Park, Cardenden, appeared from custody as he is currently in jail for other offences.

He admitted that on July 20 last year, at Nethertown Broad Street, he assaulted Joshua Lerette by butting him on the head.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said the victim had been on a night out with friends.

As they walked down the road from a nightclub, his friends were shouting to Mr Lerette by his nickname, ‘Pedro’.

Solway, who had been out drinking, misheard the shouts and thought they were directed at him, which led to a confrontation and the headbutt.

Sheriff James MacDonald jailed Solway for 162 days for this latest offence.
