A CHARITY quiz night got top marks when it managed to raise a massive £1,650 for Andy's Man Club in Dunfermline.

The event, which took place at Dunfermline Rugby Club's McKane Park, was organised by Niki Blair and hosted by Neil Westgarth with the aim of raising cash and awareness of mental illness.

Niki was delighted with the response they had – and the amazing amount raised.

"It was basically like a quiz night – that was the original plan but then we started to get raffle prizes and lots of people gave stuff and we had a few good prizes so we were going to raffle off everything. We also did a silent auction for some of the prizes," she said.

Niki decided to organise the event after the death of a close friend.

"He had been having mental health problems and stuff and I wanted to do something positive and make a difference," he added. "I am going to do other stuff as well. I want to try and keep his memory going but also raise a bit of money for a charity that is local to me that can help."

A special tour which will stop off at all Andy's Man Clubs across the country will be in Dunfermline on Sunday morning.

The awareness weekend will see two buses visit all 21 groups in the UK and the tour will stop at the Yes-U-Are building, the old Andrew Erskine Church, between 9-9.30am.

The bus will be loaded with leaflets, car stickers, banners, wristbands and t-shirts and volunteers are hoping to raise awareness and get people talking.
