ScotRail staff have voted to take strike action following a dispute over pay.

Dozens of Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA) members in Control at ScotRail have voted overwhelmingly for strike action just this afternoon (Friday).

A TSSA spokesperson told the Press that is likely that a date for when strike will take place will be announced next week.

However, ScotRail has said that strike action is not expected to have any impact on services.

TSSA say the dispute relates to the refusal of Scotrail to meet their members’ aspirations in the 2018 pay clam and rest day working payments for members within the Control Room.

Scotrail have offered a rest day working payment to TSSA members within the Driver Team Manager (DTM) grade but not to members within the Control room.

TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes, said: “This result sends a clear signal about the strength of feeling among our members who are furious at being treated like second class citizens.

“More voted for strike action than action short of a strike so ScotRail has been served very clear notice to get real. The Company fully understands that if Control staff don’t turn up for work the entire network will come to a halt.

“Be in no doubt that our members have not taken this step lightly. Our union is happy to talk to ScotRail anytime and anywhere to get this sorted.

"However, given that we are already in dispute with the Company over our Driver Team Manager members who are taking part in industrial action - I won’t hold my breath.

“Michael Matheson needs to get his finger out as industrial relations at ScotRail are spiralling out of control.”

A ScotRail spokesperson said: “We’re always open to hearing the concerns of our people, and we are absolutely committed to engaging with them to reach a resolution.”
