DUNFERMLINE's town centre is to welcome a new bar and restaurant very soon.

A married couple from Cairneyhill are set to open up The Canmore House Bar and Restaurant at the start of November.

Work is under way at the Canmore Street building which was previously the Three Bears nursery, De Brus Brewery and then The Canmore before it shut last year.

Barry and Tracey Finlayson have their sights set on a Friday, November 1 opening.

"We were actually going to sign for another pub, but once we drove past this beautiful building and knew it was up for lease, we had to have it," Tracey told the Press.

Barry has been a chef for nearly 30 years while Tracey has managed a restaurant and hotel in the local area.

The couple have two kids who have already been helping out in the building which will have both a bar and restaurant.

They plan on offering lunches and three-course meals in a relaxed setting as well having the bar open with beers from a local brewery.

Tracey continued: "When we go out, we want to have a nice meal with a bottle of wine and have nice music in the background. That's what we want to have here.

"We're keeping things as local as possible using local products and suppliers.

"There's a function room upstairs, so we're going to put a bar and beer pumps in there so we can have events, functions and parties as well."

News of their planned opening has gone down well on social media, with Tracey adding that the response they've received has been "phenomenal".

A launch night is in the works, so keep an eye on their Facebook page - TheCanmoreHouse - for more details.
