A TOTAL of four jobs are set to be created when a Dunfermline High Street mobile phone store becomes its company's first franchise outlet in Fife.

Michael McDade is taking over the Vodafone shop on Tuesday and plans to build on industry experience to make it a valuable asset to the West Fife community.

He says he's looking forward to getting started and offering a personal touch to West Fifers, and told the Press: "Vodafone for the last 18 months to two years have started to unveil their franchise programme and it is part of that.

"You have to say what you are going to do and bring to the community.

"I have been in the mobile phone industry for about 12 years and I know Dunfermline is somewhere with a lot of potential. It has still got a local community High Street so it was my first choice for looking to do the scheme with Vodafone here.

"There will be a couple of different things we will be looking to change: doubling the amount of staff working in store, different schemes such as in the next couple of months hosting a teaching session, whether that is with older people or schools.

"We will open up to schools and effectively help them learn about technology, keeping safe and even how to do things simply if thinking of the elderly. We are also starting to work with the local job centre so have spoken to them about being able to run sessions to use mobile phones to apply for jobs.

"We are trying to do all these things to ingrain ourselves in the community."
