The body of a man was discovered in Golfdrum Street early this morning, police have confirmed. 

The Press contacted Police Scotland at midday today (Tuesday) after officers cordoned off the area but a spokesperson was unable to confirm what was happening. 

They have now confirmed that the death is being treated as "unexplained". 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife were called to an address in Golfdrum Street, Dunfermline at around 6am on Tuesday, 15 October where the body of a man was found.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
