A KIND-HEARTED Dunfermline Stagecoach bus driver went all the way to Edinburgh and back to retrieve a passenger’s phone.

Ann McLaughlan’s family, who were visiting from Germany, were caught in a sticky situation when her daughter Fiona discovered she lost her phone when returning to Rosyth from the capital.

The Stagecoach hotline was shut for the weekend but the family were returning to Hanover on the Sunday.

But after a trip to Dunfermline bus depot, staff went more than the extra mile with bus driver Siobhan saving the day and driving Fiona and her husband to and from Edinburgh.

Ann said: “We were amazed at how quickly the situation was resolved.

“We were on a visit to my home town.

“Late Friday evening, after returning from Edinburgh to Rosyth, Fiona told me she could not find her iPhone.

“Well, I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who will understand the dimensions of this tragedy!

“After finding out it was last seen at Edinburgh bus station, while checking the timetable I called the Stagecoach hotline.

“The taped voice told me service hours were Monday to Friday. No chance of contacting lost and found before Monday and we were returning to Hanover on Sunday.

“By this time, 9pm on Friday, my daughter and her hubby were almost on red alert.

“Knowing that the bus station would not be staffed, I remembered the (St Leonard’s) bus depot next to the high school.

“We drove over and explained the situation to the staff at the gate.

“What can I say, within only 30 MINUTES after discovering the loss, we were back in possession of my daughter’s holiday photos, flight tickets and timetables etc.

“Please pass on a big thank you to the staff and passengers of Stagecoach and especially the lady bus driver who drove them to and from Edinburgh!”
