Police Scotland have confirmed that inquiries at Mackie Place in Dunfermline were in connection with the investigation of the death of a man in Golfdrum Street.
A property in the Abbeyview street was cordoned off last week but at the time police could not say what the action was in relation to.
They've now said it was in connection with a murder inquiry at Golfdrum Street, at the other end of the town.
A man and woman appeared in court charged with the murder of a 38-year-old man last Thursday.
Jason Mooney, 26, and Lynn Kelly, 33, both of Dunfermline, appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
They were charged with murdering Chris Cowie, who was found dead at an address in Golfdrum Street on Tuesday.
Mooney and Kelly were also charged with theft.
They made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
Both were remanded in custody and are expected to appear again in court later this week.
