FAMOUS faces from kids' TV were on hand to help open a brand new £100,000 playpark in North Queensferry.

Joshua Hayes, the co-star in hit CBeebies show Molly and Mack, made the trip to West Fife on Friday with fellow cast member James McKenzie.

The responsibility of cutting the ribbon on Pierhead Playpark was reserved for North Queensferry Primary School's head boy and girl.

Jessica Anthony and Euan Whiddett did the honours and declared the park open after nearly two years of hard work by the local community.

The old play area in the village had fallen into disrepair and concerned residents joined forces in January 2018 to set up a project group.

David Neill, from the group, told the Press: "Everything was perfect.

"It was great to have Joshua and James from the show come to the opening and they spent a lot of time with the children, who all had great fun.

"The feedback so far has been tremendous and it's been packed since it opened.

"The old park was becoming a little bit desolate. The old swings failed a Fife Council safety inspection and had to be removed.

"So we sourced funding as a community group and we're delighted that we're now able to have this open to everyone.

"It's in an amazing setting and there's so much for the kids, and for adults to sit and enjoy the views as well at one of the benches."

The park features swings, a wooden ship, lighthouse, hammock and more, with all equipment decided by local kids at last year's village show.

Fife Council provided £50,000, Fife Environment Trust put forward £45,000 and community funding completed the project.
