OVERNIGHT maintenance is planned for the A985 throughout next month.

Work is scheduled to take place from east of Pattiesmuir to Brankholm Roundabout in two phases from Friday, December 6.

The scheme will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

Phase one diversions will be in place from Friday 6 through to the morning of Monday 9.

The second phase will then begin at night on Monday 9 until the morning of Saturday 14.

To allow this scheme to take place there will be overnight closures of the A985 carriageway between east of Pattiesmuir and Brankholm Roundabout with signed diversion routes in operation.

Local access into Pattiesmuir from the A985 will be maintained from the eastbound direction throughout the works, however the A985 closures will apply as described and motorists will be required to follow the diversion routes in place.

  • Phase 1 - Overnight Closures - December 6 to December 9

A985 eastbound traffic will be diverted via a left hand turn onto the A994 at Cairneyhill Roundabout and traffic will proceed on this route through Dunfermline to merge with the A907.

At Sinclair Gardens Roundabout, traffic will take the third exit onto the A823, St. Margaret’s Drive and at Pitreavie Roundabout, will take the second exit onto the B980 in a southerly direction.

Traffic will be able to rejoin the A985 at Kings Road Roundabout and diversion will end.

Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion route but in the reverse direction.

Additional traffic management in the form of temporary traffic signal controlled lane closures will be in place during daytime hours to allow resurfacing material to cool.

  • Phase 2 - Overnight Closures - December 9 to December 14

A985 eastbound traffic will be diverted via a right hand turn onto Hilton Road in Rosyth and then taking the first exit at the roundabout to continue on Hilton Road.

At the roundabout junction with Castle Road, traffic will be directed to take the first exit onto Castle Road.

Traffic will continue on Castle Road until Kings Road roundabout where they will be directed to take the third exit to re-join the A985 eastbound.

During the road closures (8pm to 6am) temporary traffic lights will be in place on Hilton Road.

All work is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not safe.

The scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, Prentice Westwood, Babcock International, Bay Travel, Stagecoach, and Fife Council.
