A DUNFERMLINE teacher has proved she is top of the class by landing a top award.

Sarah Keenan, from Carnegie Primary, received the Best Teacher accolade at the annual Forth Awards. The ceremony celebrated the great and the good from across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.

Nominations for the title said Sarah “encourages by example” and had an “incredible way” of building confidence and always making learning fun.

They added that Sarah was an “inspirational woman with exceptional attention to the detail”, while her methods of keeping parents up to date with the progression of their children’s education were also praised.

Headteacher Julie Journeaux said: “We are all absolutely delighted that she has been recognised as Forth’s Teacher of the Year.

“She is an exceptional teacher who shows great commitment to her children and families. This a well-deserved accolade.”
