DUNFERMLINE’s latest eating and drinking spot will throw open its doors today (Friday).

The finishing touches are being put in place as The Canmore House Bar and Restaurant nears its official reveal.

Barry and Tracey Finlayson have been at work restoring the Canmore Street building back to its former glory.

“We’re super proud,” the couple told the Press. “We’re really excited to open and are grateful to all the support we’ve had throughout.

“Even when we had to announce that we couldn’t open when we wanted to, everyone was understanding.

“We just want to get people in now so they can see the place.”

The site was previously Three Bears nursery, De Brus Brewery and then The Canmore before it shut last year.

“They had hoped to open on November 1 but the delay was down to circumstances outwith their control.

“No room has been left untouched and we’ve really worked harder than we thought we would,” they added.

“It’s a beautiful, traditional building and we’ve given it a modern, clean twist while still keeping its features.”

The downstairs bar will serve food and drink and the restaurant on the same floor seats 14.

Upstairs has had a major makeover too with a function room and bar for up to 60 people.

They added: “It’s really had a complete transformation. It was previously like a dark brewery, but we’ve lightened up the place.

“When we first walked in we thought a wee lick of paint would have done the job, but we’ve done so much more.

“It’s now time for everyone to judge for themselves the job we’ve done.”

Local musician Shaun Philp will play from 9pm to midnight tonight and photographer Rachel McLean will turn the function suite into a winter wonderland during the day.

She is running a photoshoot session from 11.30am to 6pm for adults to have their kids’ photos taken in a Christmas setting.
