EMERGENCY services have been at Dunfermline High School this evening after reports of an "unfamiliar smell".
999 crews were alerted because of fears that the smell may have been chemical or gas-related.
Within the last few minutes, school rector Iain Yuile issued a statement to parents in which he said: "After 4pm, we received some reports of an unfamiliar smell in the stairwell at the end of one wing of the school.
"As a highly-precautionary measure, the emergency services were called out and have reassured us that there is no cause for concern."
The Press contacted the school's community use office just after 8pm where a staff member confirmed 999 crews had left the scene and that the facility was open as normal.
