GUIDE DOG puppies got a special visit to Amazon in Dunfermline to aid their development.

The group of trainees are taught by Guide Dogs Scotland and will go on to provide vital support for blind or partially-sighted people in the local area.

This exposure to a working environment is crucial to the puppies' formation as guide dogs, as handlers need to be sure their four-legged friends can cope in any situation.

Graham Allison, general manager at Amazon in Dunfermline, said: "Thank you to Guide Dogs Scotland for using our fulfilment centre as part of the important training for these young guide dogs.

"It was a privilege to host the dogs and handlers, and the experience provided a great insight for the Amazon team into the important service that these lovely furry companions offer to those who need it.

"We hope everyone from Guide Dogs Scotland enjoyed their visit with us and we would love to have the pups back for a day when they graduate."

The safe space of the Dunfermline fulfilment centre allowed the puppies to come into contact with new obstacles without risk.

David Smith, puppy training supervisor for Guide Dogs Scotland, added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to Graham and his team for welcoming us on a tour of the local fulfilment centre. Learning to respond calmly to out-of-the ordinary circumstances is absolutely crucial to guide dog training and the tour was vital to their practice of this skill. They appreciated the cuddles too!"
