YOUNGSTERS from Lynburn Primary School have been gifting advent calendars and chocolates to those less fortunate this Christmas.

Pupils of all ages have donated 34.2 kilos of goodies to Dunfermline Foodbank as part of their Christmas appeal.

Headteacher Louise McIllhatton is proud of her kids' efforts and praised them for their generosity.

She said: "There's a great sense of community spirit at the school.

"We regularly donate to the foodbank throughout the year but our annual Christmas appeal has seen them take a real ownership of it. They've been very enthusiastic about the appeal.

"They've picked what advent calendars or selection boxes they've wanted to donate with their parents, and I'm really proud of them.

"There will sadly be young people this Christmas that will go without a lot of nice things that other kids will have, so hopefully they can have this nice surprise and present from us at the school.

"We have a trolley at the school and nursery entrance, and kids and their parents donate often. We have a very generous community here."
