FIRE Station Creative threw open their doors and 1,000 visitors flocked to visit the venue's studios and artists.

The hub was "buzzing" on Saturday and Sunday as the public were treated to a rare glimpse behind the scenes.

Held once a year, the open weekend showcases the hub's talented tenants and their workspaces.

More than 20 artists and makers showcased and sold original pieces.

Work from painters, textile designers, illustrators, jewellers and more were all on display.

Ian Moir, director and gallery curator, said: "This year's event was hugely successful.

"There was a great atmosphere in and around the studios, as well as downstairs at the bar and cafe.

"Working here, I sometimes don't see how much of a buzz there is around the place, but when you can step back and see everyone here in this setting, I can see how positive Fire Station Creative is.

"I think everyone here benefited and the feedback we've received has been overwhelmingly positive. That's feedback from visitors and our tenants, as for some of them, they've never been a part of anything like this and they were really happy and pleased to interact with the public and have that exposure.

"It was great to hear from people who live locally but hadn't been into the venue before. We're now in our fifth year, and it's amazing that we're still having new visitors from the area coming in to have a look around and then tell us that they'll definitely be back."
