Subway's brand new Dalgety Bay store has opened today (Friday).

The food outlet is part of the brand-new £4m Gateway Development and will be open 7am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am until 10pm on a Sunday.

The store will be looking to employee 12 people, with a few positions still needing to be filled.

Owner of the franchise, Davey Lax, from Dunfermline, opened his first Subway store in Cowdenbeath in April.

He told the Press: "We were a wee bit delayed but we opened today at lunchtime (Friday).

"I opened my first store in April so it's all still new to me.

"Thankfully, my business owner owns the Duloch franchise and he has years of experience behind him.

"I was a joiner before this so I've never done anything like this before but I thought I'd try something new and it would be a bit different.

"My background has come in handy for fitting out the shop though."

Joining Subway at the Gateway development is Aldi, Greggs bakers, Specsavers, Domino's restaurant, Screwfix Direct and a Vets4Pets business.

The Scarborough Muir Group, a major landowner at Rosyth Waterfront, outlined their vision for the £4m site in May 2013. A planning application was submitted later that year and approved in 2015.

Davey added: "I've been friends with my business partner for a number of years but it was actually my idea to get these stores and he backed me up.

"It's been good so far but there have been a few challenges. I'm enjoying it though!

"I think the Dalgety Bay store will be quite a decent space.

"There are lots of shops and businesses around bringing people into the area.

"We have five or six people so far so we're looking to recruit a few more."
