A HIGH VALLEYFIELD man who threatened his parents then made threats to assault police officers has been sent to jail.

Sheriff Alastair Brown said he had run out of options for Rhys Boreland and there was no other sentencing option available to him.

Boreland, 21, of Dunimarle Street, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He had previously admitted that on March 13, at his home, he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner when he shouted, swore, uttered threats of violence repeatedly towards his parents who lived there, threatened to assault any police officer who attended at the address and threatened police officers repeatedly.

He also breached bail conditions banning him from entering Dunimarle Street in High Valleyfield or contacting or attempting to contact his parents when he entered the street and contacted them on April 1.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said Boreland's parents had become concerned about another matter no longer before the court and he had told them that if police were contacted, he would assault them and any police officer who came to the property.

He later contacted police himself, stating he had consumed cocaine and was suicidal.

During the call, he was heard to say: "Do not start mum or I will put your heid through the telly" and later said he would "swing for" any police officers who came through the door.

Solicitor Elaine Buist said her client was keen to stop appearing in court.

"He just wants to get a job and live a normal life," she said. "I said that would be a lot easier if he put the drugs behind him and he said he accepts that and he does need help.

"The relationship between himself and his mother is extremely fractious."

Sheriff Alastair Brown revoked a community payback order that Boreland was already on and jailed him for a total of nine months.

"He has been given the chance of supervision and he doesn't take it, he is not suitable for unpaid work or a restriction of liberty order. What other constructive option to I have?" he said.

"There is no constructive option open to me at this point."
