SCROOGES have vandalised the Dalgety Bay Christmas display for a second time prompting organisers to ask for help to find the culprits.

Locals woke up last Sunday to find most of the display put up by the Blooming Lovely group and RE/MAX estate agents knocked down or broken.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that yobs have targeted the decorations, which have been paid for by local businesses.

The display included 30 wooden snowmen, a Santa's sleigh and reindeers as well as a Christmas message, set on the grass verge by the junction of Harbour Drive on the A921.

Peter Collins, the founder of Blooming Lovely, said: "Every single snowman was flattened and some were broken off.

"To see them all smashed is awful and it's all pointless.

"What sort of person gets their kicks from knocking a display down?

"It just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm from an inner-city background but we knew Christmas was sacred and you didn't touch people's decorations.

"It's generated quite an angry response from people and we're hoping someone reading the Press might have seen something to help identify these people."

It's thought the display was vandalised some time after midnight and before 7am on December 22.

Unfortunately, CCTV from the nearby petrol station doesn't cover the grass bank but it's hoped drivers might have seen something when passing on the busy main road.

"I have been totally overwhelmed by the support of so many people, who've told us not to give up," Peter added.

"Thousands of comments have been left and my phone has never stopped pinging with messages.

"People have even offered to put cameras up and lots turned up help sort it out.

"Fingers crossed we get a bit of justice."

Police Scotland have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
