A POLICE dog helped recover a stolen car following a housebreaking in Dunfermline.

Tora, a three-year-old German Shepherd, was deployed by Police Scotland after a Mercedes was taken in the Masterton area.

The car was recovered in Edinburgh later the same day by Tora.

However, enquiries are still ongoing into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife continue to investigate the theft of a Mercedes E-Class from the Masterton area of Dunfermline on December 18.

"The car was traced to the Hillpark Grove area of Edinburgh later that day. Enquiries continue and anyone who may have information about this is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2618 of 18th December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
