Donibristle Primary School was closed today due to essential water repair maintenance being carried out in the area.

Parents were told on Monday that work was due to be carried out by Scottish Water with the school stating: "Apologies for this unforeseen disturbance, but this is entirely beyond our control."

There was some confusion with an alert issued by Fife Council just before midday today to say that there was an "emergency closure" at the school in Dalgety Bay as the water had been turned off.

However a spokesperson explained that this had been down to an error in the automatic notification system and the school had in fact been closed all day.

It will be open as normal tomorrow.

The school is on Morlich Road in Dalgety Bay and other properties in the area have been affected.
