A ROSYTH man who drove over a police officer's foot has been placed on a tag.

Alan Healy, 22, of Boyle Drive, was told that he needed to "grow up and start behaving" during his appearance on Wednesday at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He had admitted that on June 8, 2018, at Elder Place in Rosyth, he drove dangerously and drove off from a stationary position at speed towards, and in close proximity to, a police officer, which caused the vehicle to run over his foot.

Solicitor Alexander Flett said his client was not coping very well with what was going on in his life at the time.

"He had got caught up with something else going on – a matter involving other family members was dealt with a long time ago," he added.

Sheriff Alastair Brown placed Healy on a restriction of liberty order for 25 weeks. He also banned him from driving for 17 months.

"You drove a motor car in the direction of police officers and plead guilty to that. That is serious," he said. "You have virtually no criminal record and that is the only reason why you are not going to prison today.

"You need to grow up and start behaving."
