BOLTON Council's gritters will be out on the street tonight as temperatures could be set to plummet.
Forecasters expect the weekend to be chilly, with the Met Office predicting potential lows of -2°C.
Residents should spot gritters out and about from 11pm tonight completing a full circuit of the town.
The weather is expected to be coldest tomorrow (Saturday) when temperatures will drop in the morning before a brief uplift around noon and then a fall in the evening.
The day will mostly be clear with relatively little wind.
Then, on Sunday forecasters expect to see mist and fog across Bolton and temperatures falling to around -1°C, although it could feel as cold as -3°C.
Things should heat up again on Monday when the temperature is expected to rise below 0°C again.
