POLICE became suspicious about possible drink-driving after seeing a car mount a kerb in Dunfermline.

The driver was Sharlene Vincent, of Dee Place, Dunfermline, who was later found to be over the limit.

Vincent, 37, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted that on April 13, at Broomhead Drive, she drove a vehicle after consuming excess alcohol.

Her reading was 79 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine, the limit being 67 milligrammes.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said: “At 6.30am, police saw the vehicle mounting a kerb, they spoke to the driver and could smell alcohol from her.”

Vincent said repeatedly to officers: “It’s a private road.” She was arrested and taken to the police station.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “She had gone to collect her daughter and someone had called the police. It’s a borderline reading.”

Sheriff James MacDonald banned Vincent from driving for a year and fined her £300.
