THE news Bournemouth town centre had been dreading leads our round-up of the top five business stories this week.
1. Beales of Bournemouth - the original store that gave its name to a whole chain - is to disappear.
A statement late on Friday afternoon said administrators had not found a buyer for the whole package of 23 stores, so 12 would close.
2. The latest grim news about Beales came just days after Dorset Chamber launched a campaign to revitalise the high street, with a call for creative thinking about the future of town centres.
3. Poole's answer to Amazon Marketplace - a business that set out to be "fairer" to sellers - has attracted £3m from investors who believe it can be a "global player".
4. It's just an ice cream kiosk, but its prime location at Moors Valley could see its operator make up to £5m over eight years, according to an invitation to tender.
5. And in National Apprenticeship Week, we looked at what young - and not-so-young people - are getting out of on-the-job training.
