WHAT happy times

We moved from Norfolk to Boscombe in 1952, Parkwood Road. I was eight years old. Our playgrounds were the cliffs, nothing to us seemed out of bounds, up and down them like gazelles.

We had three cinemas along Christchurch Road , the Astoria, the Carlton and the Savoy. The ABC minors at the Carlton on a Saturday morning was pure bliss and noisy mayhem. Flash Gordon, Robin Hood and even Rocket Man starring, believe it or not, briefly Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek. Oh how we turned Woodland Walk into Sherwood Forest and Fisherman’s Walk into the Wild West on those Saturday mornings

At no time were we ever approached by odd people or undesirables. Now I suppose it’s all changed. Or has it? Maybe it’s just me.
