TWO weeks of roadworks on the M90 at Kelty that were postponed due to two storms are now underway.

Drainage investigations costing £100,000 and covering a 12km stretch of the northbound carriageway of the motorway were scheduled to start on Monday February 11.

The work, between Junction 4 (Kelty) and Junction 8 (Arlary), involves teams carrying out cleaning and CCTV surveys and was due to take eight days and nights using 24-hour working.

Bad weather put paid to that and Bear Scotland's Andy Thompson said: "Unfortunately adverse weather conditions brought in by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis last week resulted in us moving our drainage investigations for sections of the M90 back by a week, with work now underway."

The project will take place over two weeks using 24-hour working.

The traffic management will remain the same as originally planned, with 24-hour lane closures and a 50mph speed restriction in place for safety.

Lane closures will be implemented in approximately 2km sections..

No work will take place on Friday 21, Saturday 22 or Sunday February 23, with work continuing from Monday 24.

All work is expected to be completed by Friday February 28.

Mr Thompson added: “We’ve planned the project to take place using 24-hour working, with all work removed on Friday and over the weekend to keep any disruption to a minimum.

"Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safety as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential drainage investigations on the M90, and encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
