A KELTY woman found injured behind the wheel of a car which had been involved in an accident was almost four times over the limit.

However, Abby Young avoided a ban when she appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Young, 22, of Main Street, admitted that on November 3, in Keltyhill Avenue, Kelty, she was in charge of a car having consumed excess alcohol.

Her reading was 189 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, the limit being 50 milligrammes.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said police were called to a road accident at 3.40am.

The officers found Young in the driver’s seat of a car with the engine running. She had injuries to her face and was taken to the Victoria Hospital for a check-up.

Defence solicitor Joshni Roshi said: “She’s a first offender and works in Edinburgh. She made a significant error on this occasion.”

Sheriff Pino di Emidio fined Young £500 and endorsed her driving licence with 10 penalty points.
