A DUNFERMLINE man has been jailed after raping a vulnerable young woman within hours of meeting her.

Martin Ogg, 54, of Iona Road, met his victim, who he did not previously know, outside a shop in the town before they went back to his house for a drink.

After his sexual advances towards the 24-year-old were rebuffed, he subjected her to a rape ordeal.

Unemployed Ogg had denied raping the woman during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh and claimed that sexual activity between them was consensual.

But he was found guilty of assaulting and raping the victim on June 8 and 9 in 2017 at his home at Iona Road in Dunfermline.

He repeatedly touched the woman and exposed himself, removed her clothing and performed a sex act on her during the attack.

Ogg, who had been on bail during his trial, was remanded in custody following his conviction while a background report is prepared on him ahead of sentencing.

A judge told him: "You should be under no illusion. This is a very serious matter involving the rape of a very vulnerable woman in your house."

Lord Mulholland placed him on the sex offenders' register and deferred sentence until April 1 at the High Court in Glasgow.

The woman said that once she was at Ogg's home she contacted a friend on social media but he put an arm around her and was grabbing at her breasts and she told him not to touch her.

Advocate depute Margaret Barron told jurors: "The complainer was making it clear to the accused she was not interested in him sexually by saying 'Don't touch me'."

The woman later told Ogg again that she did not want to have sex with him but he took her clothes off and got on top of her.

The victim said she "froze" during the assault.

Miss Barron said the sex occurred despite the woman making it "explicitly clear" that she did not want it to happen.

The court heard that the woman went to Ogg's house because he offered her drink and to take her to Dundee the following morning.

Ogg told police during an interview that he was not taking advantage of the woman and did not rape her.
