A DUNFERMLINE man swallowed a bag believed to contain drugs as he struggled violently with police officers.

Brian Connelly, 33, of James Bank Hostel, James Street, was fined £200 at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted previously that, having been granted bail on July 16, he breached the conditions on August 26 by contacting his ex-partner.

He also admitted that in James Street the same day, he resisted two police officers, struggled violently with them, tensed his arms and body, attempted to break free from their grasp and swallowed a plastic bag believed to contain a controlled substance.

At a previous court appearance, it was heard that Connelly had been spotted by police with his partner outside the hostel in breach of his bail order and when the officers spoke to him, he tried to put a plastic bag in his mouth.

He was grabbed by the officers, who tried to remove the bag, but Connelly succeeded in swallowing it.
