AN INVERKEITHING man caught stealing from a supermarket has been warned to stay out of trouble or go to prison.

Anthony Morgan, 45, of Manse Road, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on August 10, at Asda, Halbeath Retail Park, he stole a quantity of alcohol and groceries.

The court was told that the goods stolen were valued at £136.80 and were fully recovered.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett admitted: “He obviously has a record for analogous matters.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown told Morgan: “You are an inveterate thief and it’s because of your drugs habit.”

However, he said he would give Morgan a chance to get help for his drug problem.

Sheriff Brown imposed a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision.

He warned Morgan: “If you don’t stay out of trouble you’ll go to prison.”
