FIFE Council are restricting the number of people able to attend funeral services at their cemeteries and crematoriums.

All services will now be restricted to a small number of immediate family members only.

The council has announced that services will be limited to no more than six people.

  • Immediate family is defined as:
  • Partner/spouse of the deceased
  • Children (and their partners) of the deceased
  • Parents (or carers) of the deceased
  • Brothers and sisters of the deceased

This is a direct response to the coronavirus outbreak and those people attending funerals will be asked to follow government advice on social distancing.

Alan Paul, Senior Manager said: “In response to the latest government advice on the coronavirus, we’ve taken this decision to prevent further spread of the virus.

“We ask for the public’s understanding and co-operation during these challenging times.

“We’ll be continuously monitoring and reviewing these arrangements as the national situation changes.”

Fife Council have warned that they will move to closed services if these rules, and social distancing measures, are not followed.
