BANDRUM Nursing Home staff received a "massive morale boost" after receiving heartwarming words from three Dunfermline children.

Barry, Jack and Katelyn Lavender sent a handwritten letter to all the staff at the Saline care home as a thank you for all their hard work.

They also drew a brightly-coloured rainbow with the message: "After every storm, there is always a rainbow."

In their letter, they said: "We decided to make these rainbows to show appreciation to Bandrum Nursing Home and everyone on the frontline, putting themselves at risk of getting the coronavirus.

"So, put these on your window and cheer every Thursday at 8pm for all the staff working to save and help us.

"We are all proud of yous.

"Keep safe, all the best – Katelyn, Barry and Jack Lavender."

Rachel Payne, managing director at Bandrum, told the Press that the letter and rainbow made staff members' day.

She said: "It's just lovely that the children thought of us as well as all the fantastic NHS staff and other frontline workers.

"All the staff saw the rainbow when coming in to work and then they all read the letter. It really was a massive morale boost for everyone.

"It was a lovely surprise.

"All of our staff have been amazing and we're very lucky to have them all.

"We're all in it together and every member of staff is essential.

"We appreciate everything they do, especially during this very difficult time."

Home-drawn rainbows are popping up all over the Kingdom as a thank you to key workers while also reinforcing the message to stay home and stay safe.

Abbotsford Care Home in Dunfermline have proudly shown off a rainbow in one of their front windows as part of the nationwide initiative aimed at bringing smiles to people's faces.
