Fire crews raced to Prestonhill Quarry yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon after a van was reported to be alight. 

No one was hurt by the incident beside the Fife Coastal path, emergency services confirmed. 

It's not known what the circumstances are surrounding the incident and Police Scotland say trying to establish what happened. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 2.01pm on Wednesday, April 22 to reports of a vehicle fire in Inverkeithing.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to Prestonhill Quarry, where crews were met by a van which was well alight.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."

Inspector Stephen Kay, from Dalgety Bay police station, said: "Officers were called to assist with a vehicle fire in the Prestonhill Quarry area of Inverkeithing around 2.10pm on Wednesday, 22 April.

"There were no injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
