POLICE taped off a Dunfermline venue at the weekend after heavy winds caused debris to fly.

Concerns were raised over "falling masonry" at the Kinema Restaurant as a result of Saturday's storm.

The 'Global Fusion Buffet', on Carnegie Drive, was cordoned off to the public in the afternoon and the matter has now been referred to Fife Council.

Garry Nicoll, acting service manager for building standards and public safety, said: "The police reported to us on Saturday morning that some debris had fallen from the roof of the Kinema Restaurant building.

"Due to the ongoing high winds on Saturday we arranged for some of the adjacent pedestrian areas and road to be closed to protect members of the public.

"Our public safety team are at the site today (Monday, May 25) to survey the building and to ensure that any remedial works required are carried out as quickly as possible."
